The WorldBeing wristband is a new wearable concept, which is set to be a huge leap forward in being able to reveal your personal carbon footprint.
London designer Benjamin Hubert has created the device which was revealed at this years London Design Festival and although still at the conceptual stage, the WorldBeing wristband plans to track the wearers carbon usage by connecting to a variety of data sources to create individual maps of consumptions. The wristband, which is made entirely from recycled electronics, bases its data on items purchased, food eaten, modes of transport taken and the energy used in the wearer’s home.
Checking into the app each morning will provide the user with instant visual feedback on their daily carbon footprint. The device uses cloud shaped graphics that change colour and size to indicate good and bad consumptions.
In order to encourage the user to reduce their carbon footprint the app plans to offer rewards including badges and discounts at local businesses. It will also put the users individual green ‘score’ against the score of other users.
