Labour MP raises awareness of importance of electrical recycling

WEEE recycling

Barry Sheerman, the Labour MP for Huddersfield has visited a local recycling center in his constituency, Huddersfield. Mr Sheerman commented on how vital he thinks electrical recycling is. “We will only make real strides forward in reusing waste when we give it value. There is more gold in a tonne of electrical waste than a tonne of raw gold ore – it is long overdue that we start to see the waste from our cities and towns not as waste, but as a valuable resource,” he explained.

The visit followed one from a local school who had gone to learn the process of WEEE recycling. The MP stated that he believed that by encouraging school children to learn about the electrical recycling process they will be more aware of the environmental impact this waste has, but also the value of recycling it.
