Adidas create recyclable running trainers

Adidas have revealed the Futurecraft Loop trainer which is its first running trainer that is entirely recyclable.

The trainer is made from just one material, that being a form of thermoplastic polyurethane which is assembled together using glue. Once the shoe has been worn out the aim is for it to be recycled so that Adidas can reuse the material to make a new pair of trainers.

The Futurecraft loop trainer will be released to 200 leading creators from across the world’s major cities in order to gain feedback with the view of the shoe becoming more available in spring/summer in 2021.

Adidas previously made a trainer with an upper layer made from recycled marine plastic waste, this year the company plan to produce 11 millions pairs of shoes from plastic materials intercepted in coastal areas.
